Support Boater Training/Certification to Improve Safety, Reduce User Conflicts, and Protect Lake Ecology
Boats today are much larger, more powerful, and faster than boats from even a decade ago. Predictably, there have been accompanying increases in boating accidents, user conflicts and damage to lake ecology as a result of poor boating practices. HF 949 requires the DNR Commissioner to establish a working group of interested parties to develop course content and implementation of watercraft operators and certification program that includes best practices for mitigating aquatic invasive species, reducing conflicts among users and limit the ecological impacts of watercraft.
